Nokia N810 WiMAX on sales Now!

Nokia N810 WiMAX is a 4.13 inch touchscreen and a handy slide out full QWERTY keyboard. And it has an integrated webcam, the GPS feature and the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and WiMAX(where available) as internet connectivity options. There’s a huge 2GB storage default memory, upgradeable via the microSD of course, and plenty of software add ons which will be available for the Linux OS it uses.

The N810 WiMAX Edition will apparently have a MRSP of $479.99, with Buy.com having it on offer at $455.99. It’s showing up as “Sold Out”, and there’s no suggestion as to when they’re expecting it to actually ship. Similarly, we’ve no further information about WiMAX coverage or monthly tariffs. read more…

Foxconn wins 3G iPhone contract, 3 million units shipping in June

Foxconn (aka, Hon Hai) — the maker of the 1st gen iphone — is ramping up 3G iPhone assembly by “the end of May” to ship 3 million units in June. It’s expected to produce some 24-25 million units before the product reaches end of life.

China Mobile, Softbank and Vodafone collaborate on mobile internet services

Vodafone, Softbank and China Mobile are establish to Joint Innovation Lab (JIL) that will “promote the development of new mobile technologies, applications and services.” More specifically, the trio is aiming to accelerate the “commercial deployment of mobile internet services” such as mobile widgets.

For starters, the initiative hopes to conjure up a platform for said widgets that can leverage the unique capabilities of mobile operators, and it’s most certainly keeping the door to the party wide open for anyone who wants to get in on the action. As expected, we’re not clearly told what to expect from this little tie-up, but we’ll be keeping an ear to ground for any developments.
