An official at SK Telecom, said that it is negotiating with the Finish giant on supplying handsets, and Nokia phones could be on sale in SK Telecom stores by the end of the year.

At the moment, South Korean mobile phone market is dominated by four handset makers — Samsung, LG, Pantech, and Motorola — and Nokia’s return is likely to cause a great upheaval.

A Russian hacker named ZoRn has developed what he is calling ROMpatcher. In a nutshell, ROMpatcher does exactly what the name dictates; it allows you to quickly and relatively easily apply patches to the ROM on S60 devices. For the time being there are only a few patches available which essentially just a few tasks that already existed (access to protected directories, circumvent certificate check) but now that the flood gates are open, expect the water to start roaring soon enough.

AT&T is now officially gearing up to deploy its AT&T HotSpot service across the nation. starting on May 1, AT&T high-speed internet and WiFi HotSpot customers get free WiFi access at all AT&T HotSpot locations, including at more than 7,000 Starbucks locations.

AT&T Wi-Fi service will reach company-operated Starbucks locations on a market-by-market basis throughout the year. The experience will include a mix of free and paid connection options for both frequent and occasional Wi-Fi users and qualifying Starbucks customers. Once AT&T Wi-Fi service is available, customers will be able to shop and surf both Starbucks’ and AT&T’s respective home pages for products and services. read more…

Skype has just released an official mobile client that supports supporting over 50 handsets. Specific phone models aren’t listed, but the press release promised support for phones from Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.
The new software reportedly allows for free Skype-to-Skype calls, cheap SMS, forward a call, or set up an online number for friends, family and colleagues, and allows you to utilize Skype-out for all of your landline needs. read more…
