SMT 5700 finally launching on AT&T

The SMT 5700 has been showing up on AT&T rebate sheets for the better part of a year now. What may have been a highly desireable $99 QWERTY smartphone a year ago is now destined to be overshadowed and crushed by the carriers current lineup, including the BlackJack II and the Palm Centro.

SMT 5700 finally launching on AT&T

Nevertheless, it appears that AT&T is finally gearing up to launch the thing. The phone looks about the same as it did when we first saw the spy shots over a year ago, and we’re guessing the specs haven’t changed all that much. read more…

Nuvifone hitting AT&T for $500 plus, are reasonable?

Nuvifone hitting AT&T for $500 plus

Nuvifone it’s coming in Q3, but the price of Garmin’s Nuvifone is stil unknown.

How about some question like this:

“Now, how likely would you be to buy the Garmin nüvifone (for yourself or as a gift) if offered by AT&T for $499.99 with a two year contract? You would be required to have both a data plan that would include unlimited Internet browsing and unlimited Navigation for $19.99 per month and one of the standard voice rate plans for a monthly fee.”

Are that sound reasonable for a 3.5-inch touchscreen cellphone with GPS navigation, 3.5G data, WiFi, audio and video playback, and 3 megapixel camera?

T-Mobile to launch 3G network voice-only, No data.

T-Mobile’s 3G network it’s going to be voice only, is ridiculous. According to an internal memo that the carrier is currently circulating, they only plan on flipping the switch on the voice portion of their “next-gen” mobile network.

“3G is the next generation of our wireless network, following our current GSM network. In this early phase of our network evolution, 3G is a new technology for carrying wireless voice calls and supporting existing data capabilities on our network. In future phases, this next generation network will power ‘high-speed’ (3G) products and services that connect customers in new and exciting ways. … Inform customers who are interested in high-speed data that the first phase of our 3G roll out supports voice only.”

No word on when T-Mobile actually plans to turn on the faster data, but for everyone who hasn’t already jumped ship — hoping against hope — the wait continues.

Samsung T10 “Flower”

It looks like of the Zune, but the Samsung T10 player is too appealing a player (especially with the Blue Wave 3 update) to be beat by the mere promises of a little more individuality. read more…
