The guys over at newmobile have been at the IFA 2008 fair in Berlin Germany and managed to get the new HTC S740 in their hands.  According to HTC though the device does not yet have a Windows Mobile product version yet so they were not allowed to play around with the software. The one thing you notice immediately about the design is the fact that the numeric keys aren’t as shining as the press photos are suggesting. And that’s good news for people with dirty fingers; the device stays clean for quite a while! The keyboard is comparable with the keyboard from the Touch Pro although the S740 device is considerable thinner than its touchscreen-brother. When you slide out the keyboard, the display is automatically changing from portrait to landschape mode. The device doesn’t seem to have auto-rotate through motion sensor. read more…

Samsung’s wowing the crowds out here at IFA 2008, with their X360 notebook, which punters are saying is their rival to the MacBook Air. The new model will sport a 13.3-inch screen and weigh just 1.27Kg, a snip lighter than the Apple MacBook Air’s 1.36Kg. The X360 comes with a Protect-O-Edge casing which uses magnesium alloy to provide strength and superior reliability with durability. While the ergonomics and premium design make the laptop look stylish. Those who are searching a high-end standalone Blu-Ray player should take a look at the BD-P2500. What has changed since is the name, as the new player is called BD-2500 instead of BD-2550. The BD-P2500, which is  capable of 1080p high-definition from Blu-ray media as well as upscaling standard definition DVDs. The BD-P2500 also has Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) processing, xvYCC Deep Color support and a 24fps film mode. It will come pre-loaded with BD Live Profile 2.0 software, as well as Bonus View Profile 1.1, making bonus content from the Internet accessible thanks also to an integrated Ethernet port. Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and dts can be outputted as an uncompressed PCM signal, as a bitstream, or via the 7.1 analog outputs; dts-HD HR will be added as a firmware update in the Fall. There’s 1GB of onboard flash memory and a USB port for memory sticks, to use the BD-P2500 for JPEG photo browsing or BD Live. Connections include one HDMI, one component and one composite output, together with 7.1 channel analog audio outputs, one optical digital audio output, ethernet and USB. The $500 price tag doesn’t seem to hefty considering that Samsung is providing you with an up-to-date model that will stay that ways for a very long time. It will be out in October and will be available in a Piano Black finish.

Cricket Communications has announced the launch of a mobile video service that will cost $5 a month for an unlimited array of short clips. The simple pricing structure is easy for consumers to use and budget for, with no incremental data charges which can add up quickly. Cricket Communications subscribers can view one- to four-minute-long streamed video clips directly on their handsets. The videos supplied by Cricket’s content-provider partners will span topics ranging from music to sports to entertainment or animation. “This service provides customers a new opportunity to personalize their handsets. Whether they opt for Reggaeton videos or YU-GI-OH! clips, all customers can appreciate the value of unlimited downloads for one low flat rate,” Cricket’s T. Motorola has announced the latest version of the Q Global, now including Windows Media 6.1. With the new capabilities of WM 6. now, the Motorola Q9h in  gray flashy silver has apparently turned out to be a ‘new’ device from Motorola called the Q Global. The Q Global and the Q9h aside from the on-board GPS that now has access to AT&T Navigator. Motorola is developing its Q line to compete with the variety of smartphones being released by companies like RIM, Apple, and HTC.
