HP announced late this afternoon it was partnering with fashion designer Vivienne Tam to create a “special edition notebook positioned to become the ultimate tech accessory for fashionistas around the globe.†For the Hong Kong-raised designer’s spring 2009 collection that was attended by US Open winner Serena Williams and Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, Tam was inspired by the heavily petaled flower that she said in show notes “are beautiful and symbolize prosperity, good fortune and happiness.”  HP said the “top of the notebook is gleaming red and bursting with peony flowers. The peony design is meticulously carried inside the notebook, under the keypad. Research In Motion today unveiled the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone, the first BlackBerry phone to come in the popular flip form factor. It should prove attractive to clamshell fans who want easy access to e-mail and text messaging on the go. Although it lacks 3G, this sleek device packs Wi-Fi for fast surfing and better voice coverage when you’re on your home network or in a hotspot (assuming you sign up for the T-Mobile HotSpot@Home service). The smartphone presents a sophisticated look with a sleek design and a chrome-finished frame surrounding its smooth, luminescent face. The Pearl 8220 will come in red or black, and looks like a standard flip phone on the outside. Finally! The new iPod nano has been officially announced in nine glorious ‘nano-chromatic’ colors. Chief Executive Steve Jobs took the stage at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco to unveil the thinnest iPod Nano ever for the fall season, available in nine colors and at lower prices. Highlights include a redesigned iPod Nano with an accelerometer, which flips the screen when you rotate the player. That feature really comes in handy when watching videos and perusing photos. Sony Ericsson has made the G705 official, known as the Kumiko. The device is another of the cellphone maker’s 3.2-megapixel slider cameraphones. Sporting a 2.4in QVGA screen, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, aGPS and a 3.2MP camera with LED flash plus 3G cam for video calls, suggests this handset means big business in the upper midrange sector while the inclusion of an ‘HTML browser’ with uploading ability enhances its credentials even further. Rumor has it that Nokia might release the 5800 Tube on October 8th in UK. The Nokia 5800 ‘Tube’ might have already appeared in ‘The Dark Knight’. According to JustAMP, the Nokia 5800 Tube will be arriving on UK soil as early as October 8th and it will feature the Series S60 5th Edition OS running underneath a beautiful touchscreen.  No word on which operator and at what price yet.
Some specs for the Nokia Tube are rumored. The Nokia Tube will sport a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus. A 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 16 Million colors will go up against the iPhone’s 3.5-inch multi-touch display. read more…
