Rumor: New Sony Ericsson Kate 5MP Cyber-shot

Cellphonesail leaked A few photos of a new 5MP Sony Ericsson Cybershot. It is basically a C902 but with the slightly updated software (i.e. Java Platform 8.4 like on C905). Other than sporting a 5 megapixel resolution, the camera also features auto focus and smile shutter. It has a  xenon flash too.

There’s also no GPS, and no 3G functionality. In a return to the convenience seen in K850i, there’s a button for you to toggle between stills, videos, and a gallery of your shots. read more…

Art Lebedev’s Scartel WiMax handset concept:

The design studio of Art Lebedev, perhaps most well known for their pocket-melting Optimus OLED keyboard. The artists at Art Lebedev dreamed up a WiMAX handset concept phone for use, presumably, on Scartel’s Russian WiMAX networks in Moscow and St. Petersburg. This is a multifunction device with WiMAX support, as well as Wi-Fi and triple-band GSM capabilities which’s likely going to keep it from seeing mainstream duty in the US

Art Lebedevs Scartel WiMax handset concept:

In addition to a WiMax radio,  microSD, dual cameras, 3.5mm audio, an A/V plug and a huge 850 x 480 screen. The buttons are kept minimal at the base: five-way joystick and call/end, and no keypad, so it must sport a touchscreen. read more…

iPhone Firmware 2.2 Beta 1 availabe for Developers

Not too long after the 2.1 update, Apple has just released the iPhone firmware update 2.2 beta 1. Apple notified some iPhone developers that a new beta iPhone firmware 2.2 is available for testing. The new version is labeled iPhone OS 2.2 beta 1 and is accompanied by a new beta of the iPhone SDK (build 9M2611).

We still have no idea what the newest firmware would contain in comparison to the current version. Firmware 2.1 did address several bugs and issues that have plagued several iPhone 3G users since the device’s launch, so it is not clear what 2.2 would bring to the table. Mac Rumors also points towards a post on its own forums where one user claims to have received a response from Steve Jobs on the where abouts of push notifications. “We’re running a bit late. Samsung M8800 is Official and Named as Pixon

The 8 megapixel full touchscreen Samsung M8800 seems to have been announced today – rather quietly in fact. This is the second 8 megapixel handset by Samsung, following the Symbian-powered Samsung i8510 INNOV8. The name of the handset which was called Bresson before, is now told as M8800. This handset is not a smartphone and has no keyboard and instead a 3.2-inch touchscreen display.

T-Mobile G1 User’s Guide Leaked

T-Mobile brought to the attention of its first Android phone’s user’s manual. The G1 manual. User Guide has over the 48 page PDF, the first thing We noticed there was a misspelling of Google as “Goggle.” Secondly, when we do end up checking out the phone, we are definitely going to need the “Getting Started” guide—things seem quite overly complicated.  As you can see, there are so many new things to learn just to perform standard phone functions.
