We’ve known since early August that Motorola Atila and Alexander touchscreen phones are in the works. However, could two Motorola smartphones arrive in the near future? Quite possibly. According to short but sweet article in Digitimes, Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Compal has received an order from Motorola for two Windows Mobile smartphones, codenamed the Alexander and Attila. Then, today a couple of live pics of Motorola’s new Alexander and Attila handsets have surfaced.

The only new thing that can be gleaned from these pictures is the screen size of Motorola Alexander. We know that Attila wil have 2.8″ display, and Alexander’s screen in the picture is obviously smaller. So it probably will be 2.6″. The quad-band Atila  includes the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. It will reportedly be Motorola’s flagship handset.
The Alexander is believed to include a five- or eight-megapixel camera, as well as assisted GPS capabilities. It sports a full QWERTY keyboard behind its sliding top panel.Apparently, these two new phones are scheduled for a release in the first quarter of 2009. The original release date was sometime at the end of this year

The Nokia E71 is finally available at Rogers. The Nokia E71 is considered as one of the best Eseries phone to date by many sectors and was originally slated for a Fido release. It’s switch to Rogers is like a result of the Fido rebrand.

If you take out a 36 month contract (with a minimum voice and data plan of $45 a month) Nokia E71 will be heavily subsidized by the operator and will cost you just $99 during the promotion period The E71 sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, QVGA 320 x 240 screen, S60 Symbian OS, a solid metal battery door which adds some nice weight, and an exceptionally slim profile
