Pantech’s 3G-capable C630 coming to AT&T

Pantech unveiled its C630 candybar handset to the media on Thursday evening and the handset is scheduled to be offered by provider AT&T starting in December.  An AT&T spokesperson at the event did confirm the C630 will run on Symbian, however. Now, we already knew the device was on the way.

Spec sheets and press materials also are not yet available. But the C630 displayed last night is a candybar phone which features that include (but aren’t necessarily limited to) Advanced GSM (AGSM), a 1.3 megapixel camera, a speakerphone, Bluetooth, an MP3 music player, a microSD slot, Internet Yellow Pages, e-mail, instant messaging, and AT&T’s Video Exchange and Video Sharing. The C630 will cost in the range of only about $49 to $50 with a service plan, in comparison to the $199.99 price of both Apple’s iPhone 3G and LG’s forthcoming Windows Mobile Incite, said Frank Fay, a company spokesperson, speaking with BetaNews at the Pepcom-sponsored press event.

Dell Inspiron Mini 12 and 9 with Artist’s Touch

Dell has decided to pimp their Inspiron Mini 12 and 9, by giving them the artists touch. The new colors and designs available on the Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12 in the U.S. and Canada include Cherry Red, Pretty Pink and three images by urban artist and “designer toy” creator Tristan Eaton.  These specialized Tristan Eaton Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and 12 will add another $50 to the standard price of these netbooks. There is also a choice of a pink or red version that will cost you $25 more.

The specs for the Del Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12 remain the same as it is only a cosmetic makeover they have received and aren’t restricted based on the choice of system. Pink and Red solid colour options are also available from Japan.

Scalado Demos ‘Zero Shutter Lag’ Solution

Scalado, which develops mobile imaging software solutions, and Alma Technologies, which specializes in image and video compression IP cores, have released details of the first JPEG compression IP core supporting Scalado SpeedTags technology. This latest development from Scalado is the first to include both the Scalado Camera Engine and Scalado SpeedTags and will be demonstrated at the Image Sensor Summit in California.

With Scalado’s new ‘zero shutter lag’ feature, however, users can be sure that the image which they see in the viewfinder is the image that they capture. Users can then instantly zoom into the resulting JPEG images to review the details of the image in real-time. Scalado’s CAPS imaging SDK is now being used in 200 million mobile handsets. The company currently has its software embedded in more than 50 different cameraphone models, from five out of the six leading handset OEMs. Here is the demo video
