Verizon Wireless goes official with the LG Versa

The LG Versa, has been officially announced for Verizon Wireless and this modular touchscreen LG mobile phone will be available from March 1st. The LG Versa will have a touchscreen handset that comes with LG’s own UI and a detachable QWERTY keyboard. The cover comes with its own OLED display which should be very useful when the Versa is hidden in the closed cover.


Specs-wise, the Versa will be a regular phone (non-smart), featuring a large 3-inch TFT touch-sensitive display with a resolution of 240×480 pixels, 2-megapixel camera. In addition, the device will offer a joyful internet experience, which will even feature Adobe Flash support, in order to enable playing online videos.  The Versa’s display also boasts an animated 3D interface, plus you can customize three different home screens with three different layouts of your choosing.

iPhone 3G to finally hit China this spring

A deal between Apple and China Unicom, China’s second largest mobile carrier, is so close that the first legal 3G iPhones could hit the Chinese according to a British consulting firm. The carrier should have its WCDMA network ready in May 2009. No word yet on a possible price for the Chinese iPhone 3G. “Apple will not have to modify the 3G iPhone for it to operate on China Unicom’s network while that would not be the case with China Mobile,” said Raymond Yu, an analyst with Ovum.

China Mobile has 415 million customers while China Unicom has 168 million customers, which could mean that by going with China Unicom, Apple would leave quite a bit of money on the table.   read more…

Sony Releases NW-S730FK Series Walkman

Two new portable media players that are part of the Sony Walkman series have been released. The new models are the NW-S738FK and the NW-S736FK, both come with a 2 inches display and mini speakers with a resolution of 320×240 pixels. You can watch videos and stock up to 8Gb or 4Gb of files. Storage space is the only difference between the two

Both will be available in gold, black, pink and red hues and supports WMA, MP3, ATRAC, linear PCM, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, HE-AAC and AAC audio formats while images extend to just JPEG. You’ll also find a 2-inch LCD, USB 2.0 connectivity, a 5 band equalizer, FM tuner and a battery good for 40 hours of audio playback (or 10 hours on the video side).

Ovi Contacts Have Been Updated for S60 FP2

Ovi Contacts was previously known as Contacts on Ovi Nokia Chat, has just been updated by Nokia for all the Symbian S60 3rd Edition smartphones that come with Feature Pack 2. okia BetaLabs just posted to inform us that Ovi Contacts has been updated. Although there are no major changes in the updated version, Ovi Contacts is said to run smoother than before. Also, search capabilities have been improved, so its now easier for you to find contacts.

“It’s been way to long since we made the last update to the Ovi Contacts client software in the Beta Labs. It’s about time we do that now. Since the launch of Ovi Contacts app here in Beta Labs, we’ve been mostly focused on improving the quality of the S60 3rd FP2 version.”
