FCC Approves LG Arena With AT&T Bands

The FCC has approved the LG Arena which confirms a version of the KM900 to the US with native 3G support. the LG has reported more than 1 million units pre-ordered and they have just started offering the device in Europe. In fact, the specifics are 850MHz and 1,900MHz WCDMA support. If the phone was launched on AT&T, the Arena should have a 5-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage plus microSDHC, GPS and Wi-Fi. For the time being, AT&T hasn’t announced any details on the possible launch of the device. We will have to wait and see whether the Arena can have the same success as in Europe.

Apple adds HD purchases to iTunes: $20 per HD movie

Apple on Thursday expanded the movie offerings on the iTunes Store to include HD downloads. Usually, HD movies  were available only for rental before. iTunes and iPod users can now enjoy the fruits of HD movies as offered by Apple’s iTune store. HD movies on iTunes will cost US$19.99 to buy and  Apple’s also promising movie rentals for $4.99 within 30 days after new releases. Apple launched an HD page on iTunes, featuring about a dozen films available immediately, such as Transporter 3, The Spirit, and The Punisher: War Zone. The HD movies can be played on a Mac, PC and on widescreen TV with Apple TV, as well as in standard definition on the iPhone or iPod with video. Purchases will come with both an HD file and an iPod / iPhone-ready SD file.

ATT has announced a limited-time buy-one-get-one-free offer after mail-in rebate for two of its newly released quick messaging mobile phones.  It is an  outrageous promotion as includes the brand new Samsung Impression (A877). Starting with next month, the carrier will start a BOGO promotion on April 7th and you will be able to select one of three new Samsung phones. This deal includes the new Samsung A877 nicknamed the Samsung Impression at $199.99, Samsung Eternity at $129.99, and the Samsung A767 Propel at $49.99.

Samsung Launches Mobile Movie Service

Today Samsung has announced that it is launching Samsung Movies service in the United Kingdom and Germany. Powered by Acetrax, the experts in premium movie content delivery, the new store will allow customers to download and watch their favourite movies and TV shows wherever and whenever they like on compatible Samsung phones, laptops or PCs. The store will allow Samsung customers to make the most of the new AMOLED screen technology within the 2009 Samsung range.

More than 500 films to rent to buy from Samsung Movies, which plans to extend service from its Tocco handset to other devices. Titles from studios including Warner Bros., Paramount, Universal, and Momentum Pictures are being offered initially. By the end of June, Samsung anticipates that 2,000 movies and TV shows will be available. Samsung plans to expand the service to notebooks, MP3 and MP4 portable music players and Samsung TVs. Prices start at 2.49 pounds ($3.55) for a 24-hour rental or 4.99 pounds to buy a movie.
