Spring, Leading open-source application framework for Java

Spring, Leading open-source application framework for Java

SpringSource builds Java infrastructure software which eliminates the complexity of enterprise Java called Spring. It offers commercial support subscriptions and added value software for the Spring Framework and many other products in the Spring Portfolio. The open source-based Spring Portfolio is a comprehensive enterprise application framework designed on long-standing themes of simplicity and power. With more than five million downloads to date, Spring has become an integral part of the enterprise applications infrastructure at organizations worldwide.

SpringSource also provides enterprise support to help organizations utilize infrastructure technologies from the Apache Software Foundation, including Apache HTTPD, Apache Tomcat, and Apache ActiveMQ. Apache Tomcat is a popular open source Java application server and serves as the basis for a number of commercial servers. Apache Tomcat is used to ensure that support customers can get their questions answered quickly and accurately and that bug fixes are incorporated into the open source code base. Yet Tomcat itself is not a commercial project — though now it does have a commercial version, courtesy of enterprise Java vendor SpringSource. SpringSource`s involvement with Apache technologies grew in 2008 when the company acquired Covalent Technologies. Covalent employees were instrumental in the development of the original Apache Web Server project (HTTPD), which now runs more websites in the world than any other web server technology.

Verizon Wireless is about to launch a new HTC smartphone. BRG is reporting that the HTC Ozone, known also as the XV6175, Snap, Cedar, and Willow, will be available for purchase online for Big Red starting June 29. No word on pricing.

Verizon’s version is full featured, with WIFI, GSM and EVDO, but seems to lack any version of Inner Circle. The D-Pad is recessed, and looks like it may be optical.BGR now reports pricing of $119.99 on a 2-year with a $70 mail in rebate involved in there somewhere.
