Pegatron has another Freescale netbook prototype out. Pegatron, has put together a prototype netbook which uses the exact same chip as the Palm Pre, ARM Cortex A8, in it’s Freescale iMX515 CPU. In mobile phone guise, the chip is clocked somewhere in the region of 600MHz, but stretches its legs to a full 1GHz in the Pegatron.. While the clock speed is lower than that in the majority of Intel Atom-powered netbooks, the Pegatron netbook’s CPU is capable of playing back 720p HD movies and supporting 3D games. It doesn’t appear to consume much power while it’s going about its business, either. Its modest two-cell battery is said to last between 4.5 and 8 hours depending on use. Aside from the slow processor, the netbook’s specs are otherwise impressive. It has integrated 3G and GPS as well with WiFi and Bluetooth.
