Ring morphes into Bluetooth Headset

The Orb Bluetooth headset folds into a ring. The headset will twist into a ring a user can wear on his or her finger when not using the device for making calls or listening to music. The savvy know it as an Orb.  While in its ring form, its flexible organic light emitting diode (FOLED) displays caller ID, calendar items and voice-to-text info, and if you want to answer a call, simply take the ring off your finger, twist it into its headset shape, and hang it on your ear for hands-free talking. To activate the headset, you just twist it from a ring into an “S” and stick it in your ear. It receives audio via bone conduction.
There will be three models of the class 2 Bluetooth Orb: A $130 basic model—coming in January—a $175 Deluxe edition with a minuscule FOLED display, and a limited edition with actual precious gems on it both coming in April 2010.

Apple Screws Google Over ‘Latitude’ iPhone App

Google’s finally released their Latitude location service for iPhone, location-aware service that lets you see where your friends are on a map, on your phone. The service  has been around for months on the web and Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices. With  Google latitude, your location will only be updated each time you use the app, since iPhone can’t run applications in the background. This could make the app a lot less interesting – on BlackBerry. You do need to physically visit google.com/latitude before Google will announce your location.

To get started, just visit google.com/latitude from your phone and don’t forget to add a bookmark to the site if you want to add it to your home screen. There are two main areas to the UI, ‘friends list’ and ‘map view’. On both you can see the location of your friends and modify your privacy settings so that you control how your location is shared and with whom.

HTC CLICK THE CHEAPEST ANDROID PHONE?

New images of the forthcoming mobile phone, the HTC Click, have been seen in the wild. Click hasn’t been announced yet, but we’ve got the pics and speculations to prove its existence. Packing a similar style to the HTC Magic, the Click will be a smartphone, but is said to cost pennies in comparison to the specced up, pricier Hero and Magic.  A feature list is sparse at the moment apart from a built in camera and a 3.5mm headphone socket. The Vietnamese forum that first brought you this picture is saying that we’re looking at somewhere between 5 and 6 million dong, which works out to $280 to $336 unlocked.

Palm Releases WebOS 1.1, Restores iTunes Media Syncing

The newest version of WebOS is now available for download on your Palm Pre. Palm has released webOS 1.1 to the Exchange-loving masses. Palm webOS 1.1  brings several additions to our support for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), including remote wipe, PIN/password requirements, inactivity timeout, improved certificate handling, and more.

Version 1.1 also includes a few other goodies for everyone — like support for emoticons in the messaging app, and the ability to set  ”person reminders” in the contacts app (next time you get a message or phone call from that person, a message pops up showing you a reminder to ask them about their vacation in Maui or maybe how their wedding went…”
In the release notes of webOS 1.1 there are more details such as a Free NFL Mobile from Sprint, improved camera speed and better Facebook contact syncing. A new gesture is now available that works the same as the onscreen Forward button. To move forward through open web pages, make a short swipe left to right in the gesture area.

The full list of new features available in webOS 1.1 can be found in Palm’s release notes for the update
