Acer has finally unveiled its entrant into the cheap laptop market, the Aspire One. According to Acer, these Acer Aspire One laptops will be available overseas this month in either white or blue (with black, red, and pink models coming soon after); US release will come later this year apparently. The price is brilliant starting at £199 for the Linux model and £299 for the XP model. Acer is significantly undercutting the similarly specified competition from Asus and HP.
Acer Aspire’s specs include 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display. The configurations features an Intel Atom processor1.6GHz Atom N270, up to 1GB of RAM and either 8GB of flash storage (with Linux) or an 80GB hard drive (with XP). An integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi for easy access to available wireless networks, WiMAX or 3G wireless technology to deliver even greater wireless freedom.
Moreover it has:1.3 megapixel camera, SDHC and multi-format media readers, three USB 2.0, VGA, and 3.5mm audio out, One free mini PCI slot for WWAN. The Aspire one measures 240×170mm and weighs less than 1kg. Battery life is rated at three hours using the standard 3-cell battery, and up to six hours with an optional 6-cell battery. Your computer may finally replace your smartphone.
