Google’s (GOOG) new G1 phone announced today is the first real competitor to the iPhone. Amazon’s just officially announced that the Amazon MP3 Store will come pre-loaded on the HTC G1 Android phone. It seems that Apple’s mobile iTunes store will soon face competition from Amazon’s MP3 store on Google’s upcoming T-Mobile G1 device. It will launch on the G1 device which will be available on October 22 through T-Mobile.

T-Mobile G1 users will be able to search, download, buy and play music from Amazon MP3, which offers over 6 million DRM-free MP3 songs from all four major music labels and thousands of independent labels. The T-Mobile G1 will come pre-loaded with an Amazon MP3 application, giving customers a phone-optimised version of the Amazon MP3 store. In order for purchased MP3s to download, the phone must be connected via Wi-Fi. (The mobile iTunes store, on the other hand, remains completely offline without WiFi.) Also great is that many tracks through Amazon MP3 will be $0.89 and many albums are priced from $5.99 to $8.99. Compare this with iTunes’ priceing of $0.99 for most tracks and $9.99 for most albums.
