Apple approves e-book after dirty words removed

Apple has approved the release the stand-alone e-book application, Knife Music, in the AppStore. ‘Knife Music’ novel is approved as David Carnoy removes F word: Self-censorship in action. In December came the first word that the e-book version of David Carnoy’s Knife Music was not allowed to be sold in the iPhone App Store because it contained “objectionable content.”

The novel is a “gripping thriller” that deals with suicide, sex, and rape allegations, so it’s no surprise that it ended up having a few instances of the f-word in it. “I decided to censor because it wasn’t that big a deal,” Carnoy told CNet’s Tom Krazit in an e-mail. “I changed it very little. For those interested, simply download the Knife Music ebook and install it to your iPhone or iPhone 3G’s homescreen at no charge . Tapping the application icon opens up Knife Music directly from the homescreen, contained within its own ebook reader.
