Asus AiGuru SV1, worlds first Skype-approved videophone

We know that video is fast becoming a mainstream way for people to communicate. The videophone offers the benefits of video calling to a much wider audience, allowing friends and families to share their worlds face-to-face without being tied to a computer. Following in the dubious footsteps of Creative, ASUS just announced a committed videophone all its own. Asus has rolled out AiGuru SV1, the first Skype Certified videophone. The AiGuru videophone makes video calls super-simple by getting rid of the PC altogether, letting you make VoIP calls right on the device, seeing your callee on the 7-inch LCD (the VGA cam above the screen sends your smiling face the other way). The AiGuru SV1 videophone has a 7 inch LCD with an 800 x 600 pixel resolution. There’s integrated speaker and microphone, a VGA webcam and WiFi support for when an Ethernet cable isn’t available. Connecting to your network should be easy, too, since this thing has Wi-Fi built-in, and there’s even a battery to make it totally wireless — and portable, in case you like to move while you talk. Expected to cost around £199.95, it will come with an AC Adaptor as well as the ability to run from battery. Asus are claiming that the SV1 will offer 20 minutes of talk time and 30 minutes of standby on a single charge.
