AT&T Garmin nuvifone G60 arriving October 4th

It has been more than a year since its announcement, today Garmin’s nüvifone G60 has received an official launch in the US through AT&T. Released for AT&T, the Garmin Nuvifone G60 is a touch screen GPS-equipped smartphone focused on navigation.  Not only works as a pedestrian device but the phone will remember when it was last attached to its car mount, helping owners remember where they parked.  AT&T will sell the Garmin nüvifone G60 starting October 4, for $299 with a 2-yr contract agreement. The phone will be offered with a 30-day trial Nüvifone Premium Connected Service

The phone is based on a custom Linux operating system and  supports native 3G and Wi-Fi for networking. The G60 features a 272 x 480 pixels touchscreen display, a “real GPS receiver with Garmin’s HotFix technology”, preloaded maps, HTML browser, and 3MP autofocus camera . It’s got 4GB of onboard storage as well as microSD expandable to 16GB. The audio jack is a non-standard 2.5mm size — unacceptable at this point — but the phone does support POP3/IMAP4/SMTP, Microsoft Outlook contacts and calendar and document viewing for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and JPG.
