BenQ, who has traditionally stuck to Windows Mobile for their higher-end phones, it has recently unveiled its intentions to launch Android products sometime in 2010. A company representative confirmed to MacWorld today that it was working on both a netbook and a smartphone based on the operating system.
BenQ currently sells netbooks under the name Joybook Lite running Microsoft Windows XP, mobile phones with the Symbian OS and a mobile Internet device with a Linux OS. The company is jumping on the bandwagon, adding itself to the growing number of ‘droid mobile makers, hoping to get itself back into the game with the new and ever more popular OS. Â Google says it knows of up to 20 devices being worked on by up to nine manufacturers that will hit the market this year.
