The Eee PC is now one year old and apparently, it went back to its low-cost roots as over @ BestBuy there is a $300 ($299.99). Let’s get the sub-$300 netbook party started! This is basically the same model as the 900, but the “A” stands for Atom. As in 1.6 GHz Intel Atom.
All you have to do is head on over to Best Buy to discover the Asus Eee PC 900A, an 8.9-inch subnotebook. OS is Linux, RAM is 1GB but the battery is unspecified. The 900A was originally tipped to use a 4-cell pack, but that model also only came in 8GB or 16GB versions; it’s possible that ASUS have slipped in a 3-cell battery along with the SSD cut.  At under $300, that becomes much more of a likely reality if you can find them on the shelf to begin with.
