FCC Approves Dell’s Mini 3iX

Dell’s upcoming Android smartphone has been caught clearing the FCC.  The Company’s first Android phone that launched in China a couple of weeks ago. Ans, Michael Dell has recently confirmed that his company would launch an Android smartphone in the US via AT&T in early 2010.

The Dell Mini 3iX packs GSM 850/1900 and UNTS bands so all that’s really needed is a combined announcement from AT&T and Dell. The FCC also confirms that the Mini 3iX has  Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.  The documents don’t confirm any other details, such as form factor, operating system or other specs. The Dell Mini 3iX has some stiff competition. Hopefully that will mean a cheaper price point.

Sears Wireless offering the Motorola Droid for $149.99

Verizon Wireless launched the Motorola Droid Android 2.0 smartphone. Walk into a Verizon Wireless store and you’ll need to pay $300 plus tax to walk out with a Motorola DROID smartphone. The Sears offer though is $50 cheaper than everywhere else, which means that new Verizon Wireless customers can pick up a Motorola Droid for $149.99.

The Droid is the new flagship smartphone offered by Verizon Wireless. Verizon is actively pushing the Droid as iPhone killer. In my opinion these are very different phones
If you’re intent on picking one up today, maybe there’s a brick and mortar store in the list you haven’t checked yet:

*Verizon (NYSE: VZ) – $149.99 if upgrading
*Wal Mart – $149.99

It is the more affordable alternative to both the upcoming Motorola Droid and the Sprint HTC Hero. The ERIS features a very snappy HTC Sense user interface and is equipped with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a sweet HVGA touchscreen.
