Toshiba TG03 to Land with Windows Phone 7 OS

Toshiba Australia is looking to enter the Smartphone market with a new Windows 7 TG03 series model. Toshiba already has a series of smartphones available, including the TG01, which was launched last year with Windows Mobile 6.1 on board, and the TG02 and K01.

The Toshiba TG03 will be a variant of the existing TG01 and will feature a 5-megapixel camera and 3 channel speaker with 5.1 sound – it was intended to be launched with Windows Mobile 6.5, but now it most seemingly might be delayed to get Windows Phone 7 Series on board.

Toshiba are confident that it has that capabilities to take full advantage of the Windows Phone 7 OS and is intent on delivering a new series of applications which will work both on its mobile computers which include Toshiba notebooks and netbooks. Rob Wilkinson, General Manager of Toshiba Australia Information Systems Division, said “Toshiba Australia is seriously looking at what opportunities are out there for us in the Smartphone market. We are talking to retailers and carriers. I have a model in my draw and we will make a decision shortly”

Nokia Stealth and Nokia 82 Dragonfly concept phones

After the Nokia Stealth model, designer Reginald Shola Hingston shows us another one of his Nokia concepts, This time we’re dealing with the Nokia 82 Dragonfly. This is supposed to be an entry level phone, packing a numeric keypad. The “Stealth” phone design is inspired by US Stealth aircraft, whereas the “82 Dragonfly” design is inspired by dragonfly.

The Nokia Stealth concept handset boasts an “ergonomically sculpted keypad, easy to navigate by touch sensations.” The Nokia Stealth features a rubberised matte surface which absorbs “light on radii” and uses a pearlescent matte colouring to produce a dark red hue.

Nokia files patent for kinetically-charging mobile phone battery

Ever since mobile phones shed off their image as basic communications devices to become multimedia powerhouses, battery life has been a cause of concern. Now Nokia has managed to lay claims to a patent that could result in a self charging mobile phone (or gadget). The Finnish giant has filed a patent for a “Piezoelectric Kinetic Energy Harvester”. This patent is for a mobile phone that charges itself not by solar energy, but by simple movement. In other words, our cell phone batteries would generate clean power through movement – much like what you find in many kinetic watches these days.

Nokia envisages a phone in which the heavier components, such as the radio transmitter circuit and battery, are supported on a sturdy frame. This frame can move along two sets of rails, one allows it travel up and down, the other side to side.
