CES 2009: LG KC910 Renoir hands-on

At the Consumer Electronics Expo in Las Vegas, LG unveiled its latest touchscreen cameraphone, the Renoir. Back in October, it looks as though the Renoir is slated for a Q1 release in Europe and Asia.  It’s named after a French painter because it’s supposed to give would-be-aesthetics-experts the power to generate great images. Its 8-megapixel camera takes pictures that can then be edited (on the phone itself) with artistic effects and beauty-enhancing touchups.  The interface is good, the weight and feel in-hand doesn’t come off as $10 plasti-crap, and the touchscreen does seem to get its job done.

CES 2009: LG KC910 Renoir hands-on

The LG Renoir’s claim to fame is its 8-megapixel shooter. It’s equipped with Schneider-Kreuznach optics and has a boatload of features including manual focus, ISO 1,600 sensitivity, geotagging, face detection, smile detection, and even blink detection. It features Touch Shot technology, which lets you autofocus on something by tapping on it, and then the picture will be taken automatically. Other cool camera tricks include Beauty Shot, which reduces blemishes and skin imperfections, and Art Shot, which includes photo effects like color tones and black and white.
