CES: Palm announces Pre Plus, Pixi Plus exclusively for Verizon

Palm unveiled several new products and initiatives, including the new Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, both destined for Verizon later this month. Both, the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are similar to the original handsets (available at Sprint).

The Palm Pre Plus doubles memory to 16GB and drops the navigation button, while the Pixi Plus gets the WiFi that was missing from the Sprint Pixi. Palm Pre Plus sports a streamlined design that simplifies navigation, 16GB of storage (15GB user available storage), and a Touchstone Back Cover.Palm considered that the Pixi doesn’t need anything more, unlike the Pre who’s design was revamped.

Both devices will have the Palm Mobile Hotspot software, which will allow the them to be used as a mobile hotspot, in the same fashion as a MiFi. With the tethering application, up to five devices can connect via Wi-Fi and gain 3G Internet access. Both the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus will be available through Verizon starting January 25. The Pixi Plus will come with optional Touchstone Back Covers in five colors: orange, pink, blue, green and black.
