Motorola, world’s leading cell phone manufacturer, has come up with a new concept of Motorola Sparrow, designed by Rinat Aruh, and first spotted on Yanko Design. The Sparrow is said to be a multi-functional handset: mobile point-of-service device, credit card reader, scanner, RFID (Radio-frequency identification) reader and, of course, a mobile phone. This handheld device was specially designed to offer retail stores with a mobile Point-of-Sale gizmo by decentralizing from the check out point, helping customers avoid long sales queues during the hectic weekend. Both the front and back of the Sparrow are equipped with touch sensitive areas, supposedly making it easier to navigate and use. The entire unit can hang from a lanyard. This is a huge improvement of an old idea. It would be great to see in the retail world.
