Cricket Launched a New Mobile Video Service – $5 Per Month

Cricket Communications has announced the launch of a mobile video service that will cost $5 a month for an unlimited array of short clips. The simple pricing structure is easy for consumers to use and budget for, with no incremental data charges which can add up quickly. Cricket Communications subscribers can view one- to four-minute-long streamed video clips directly on their handsets. The videos supplied by Cricket’s content-provider partners will span topics ranging from music to sports to entertainment or animation. “This service provides customers a new opportunity to personalize their handsets. Whether they opt for Reggaeton videos or YU-GI-OH! clips, all customers can appreciate the value of unlimited downloads for one low flat rate,” Cricket’s T. Scott Edwards, senior vice president of marketing said in a media release today. The service is available now on selected handsets through a WAP browser. Cricket, which has a large Hispanic subscriber base, will is including in the package Spanish-language content within each content category from companies like Mis Rolas and Es Musica. At launch, the service is immediately available on six Motorola handsets. In the near future, Leap will also roll it out to its Samsung and Nokia models, Burger said.
