RIM has just released the long-awaited version of its BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Apple’s Mac OS X. BlackBerry Desktop Manager replaces earlier syncing software, PocketMac for BlackBerry, which paired an application installer with content-syncing tools similar to RIM’s new offering.According to the handset vendor, the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac has been designed to enable an easy synchronization of contacts, calendar appointments, tasks and notes between devices, and to fit the needs of Mac users.Moreover, From within the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software, users simply select the desired iTunes playlists and the music, including song information and album art, is quickly transferred onto their BlackBerry smartphone.
In addition to syncing with your Mac you can also add and remove programs, schedule automatic backups, encrypt backup files and install firmware updates to your BlackBerry device. RIM claims that the application works fine with data from Entourage, MobileMe, and the regular iCal, Address Book, and Mail (for notes) applications. The BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac can be downloaded from the BlackBerry website.
