Glu Mobile has inked a deal with DreamWorks to develop and publish a mobile game to go along with the release of Monsters vs. Aliens, a 3-D flick that’s an irreverent take on the classic ’50s monster movie. Both the movie and the mobile game are due out in March. The film includes an all-star cast including Reese Witherspoon as Ginormica, a larger-than-life woman, Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., Seth Rogen, as the jellylike B.O.B. and Will Arnett as the half-ape, half-fish Missing Link. Kiefer Sutherland will speak for General W.R. Monger and Stephen Colbert portrays the President of the United States.
Chris Hewish, head of Interactive for DreamWorks Animation SKG, further said, “Glu’s demonstrated success as a world-class developer and global publisher make them the ideal partner to bring Monsters vs. Aliens to mobile. We’re pleased to expand upon our relationship with Glu to create the mobile game based on this valuable property.”
This is the second time DreamWorks has turned to Glu to promote a movie to mobile users, and the first one hasn’t even made its debut. The duo first partnered in a deal that has Glu creating the mobile game for DreamWorks’ Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, with the movie and game set to premiere in the US on November 7.
