Clippy, a free download for jailbroken iPhones/iPod touch, makes copying and pasting text across apps easy and convenient. There have been some other limited solutions for copy and paste, but this latest capability looks to be available across all applications where text is entered. “After installing the application, type any text you want and simply hit the “123″ button on your keyboard to show the copy/paste buttons. Tap “copy” and start selecting the text you want to copy. Tap “copy” again to end the selection. Then tap “paste” to paste this text where you want it to be.”
The solution is obviously not lightning quick, but it’s a lot better than using a piece of paper to write down an address before entering it incorrectly into Google Maps, or typing a passage from a book or article, etc. Try it out and see how you like it. Hopefully, Apple soon will bring its own copy and paste functionality to the iPhone.
