This whole netbook thing may catch on yet. HP’s Mini 1000 is a 10.2-inch netbook that comes in at under 2.5 pounds wiht brightview display and up to 2 GB RAM under its highly portable shell.HP’s latest netbook, the Mini 1000 ($550 direct), is modeled after the polished look of HP’s Pavilion line
The Mini 1000 comes in several configurations, but the basic model starts at $400 and comes with Windows XP Home Edition. You can choose between an 8.9″ or a 10.2″ display, 8GB or 16GB SSD or a 60GB HDD. The stock model has only 512MB RAM, upgradeable to 1GB (for an extra $25), and although the webcam is standard, Bluetooth is not — HP will swap out the Wi-Fi (801.11g) card for a combo Bluetooth/Wireless g version for another $25.
Why the red color and the peonyflower you asked? Good question, here’s Tam answer: “The fashion-forward woman no longer has to sacrifice glamour when staying in touch with all her favorite digital content. And the flower and vibrant colors suggest good fortune, happiness and prosperity in the Chinese culture.” So the Vivienne Tam Edition is definitely aimed for the ladies, while the boys will get the piano-black colored one.
