An interesting piece of news about Verizon’s Android strategy has popped up. The Droid brand name will not be limited to a single device. It will actually be the name for the carrier’s complete range of Android phones. That’s why the Sholes has changed names so abruptly to the Droid.
Shortly down the road is the HTC Desire, which will be branded the Droid Eris. This particular handset will be available on November 6. The Desire will come with HTC’s new Sense UI, 3G connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. A support, micro SD support and Android running in the background. Another interesting thing to note with the Droid Eris is that it will be a a 3.2-inch full touchscreen LCD device sans the QWERTY keypad. Verizon is becoming mighty tempting
