Introducing Nokia 6788 with TD-SCDMA Support, China only

Nokia is trying to gain more market share in China and has announced that their Nokia 6788.  This is the first Nokia handset that features the TD-SCDMA technology which is good for the high-speeds of 3G available on China. Nokia feels that with China’s population of 1.3 billion people, playing their game and making devices that work on their network would be beneficial to their bottom line.
According to Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, CEO of Nokia: “Nokia sees TD-SCDMA as being central to the successful evolution of 3G in China, and so is fully committed to this 3G standard. With a wide range of integrated China Mobile applications, the Nokia 6788 marks a new level of collaboration with China Mobile and offers enriched experiences to China’s 3G users. Nokia plans to introduce more TD-SCDMA phones in the near future, further boosting the development of this 3G standard in China.

This all-in-one device sports a 5-megapixel (2592 x1944) photo snapper with dual-LED flash, a 2.8-inch QVGA display, and runs under the Symbian S60 platform. According to its maker, the Nokia 6788 enables people to instantly share things they think matter most. No word on pricing, although it ought to hit the market sometime during the Christmas period this year.
