Kuma Phone teddy bear from Willcom

Kuma Phone teddy bear from Willcom

Spotted on Trends in Japan, it was shown off at the Good Design Expo by mobile provider Willcom. It’s a concept phone in the shape of a stuffed teddy bear.  Yes, her teddy bear is actually a cell phone. It holds a SIM card and enables to make and receive calls. The Teddy phone was introduced by Willcom at the 2008 Good Design Expo. The idea is fun especially for girls or ladies. You can set the paws to speed dial people (one for each paw, so four total), and the tail is used as the TALK button.  For instance, to make a call, squeeze one of its four paws for one of your speed dial numbers. And to answer or hang up the call, you press on the bear’s tail. You can even set it on vibrate. In a pamphlet, the Kuma Phone was priced at about $500. We’ll see what happens if/when this little bear makes it to market.
