Launch party for BlackBerry Curve 8520 hints release

Rumor has it, Walmart will be the exclusive carrier of T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Curve 8520 starting on August 5th. T-Mobile and RiM will together host this launch party on the 5th of August. The pre-launch party would indeed begin on 20th July and will run for two weeks, concluding at the Gala event on the 5th day of next month. A bunch of stuff is planned for the parties including a movie screening, contests, door prizes and more, but the main focus of the night will be a preview of the Curve 8520 aka Gemini. The ad for the events indicates attendees will be treated to a movie, have a chance at winning $1,000 in prizes and will naturally get to play with and get some BlackBerry related goodies. Once guests are invited, they need to register by July 19th for an event.Just for refresh, the BlackBerry 8520 features a 320 x 240 resolution display, 2MP camera, WiFi, quad-band GSM and RIM’s OS 5.0. The biggest change is right in that space where the trackball is missing, a mechanical trackball instead of the roll with the touch of your finger, rim apparently this device is placed on an optical trackball.
