We first knew of the LG VX5500 as it was spotted on this months. Now, we finally have something tangible about this device and, if everything turns out well. Verizon Wireless will adding a new low-end device to its portfolio later this month. LG VX5500 is said to be launched before the end of October, for a price as low as $49.99 with a 2-yr contract agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate.
The VX5500 is intended as a cosmetic update to the venerable VX5400, but is otherwise identical in specifications with an external display, large internal display, Bluetooth, GPS support through VZNavigator, VGA camera with video recorder, speakerphone and support for FOTA updates. To be fair, this affordable baby can also sing along the carrier’s Mobile Web 2.0 service. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD memory card slot, meaning you can’t actually use the VX5500 as a music player.
