Motorola KRE8 is a new phone concept that allows people to create music, by using sensors and accelerometers. A user can create or edit tracks with the help of glass touchscreen that makes up for the absence of knobs, sliders or toggles along with other DJ centric features to play with. Designed by Jose Tomas DeLuna, the KRE8 would come with three pre-loaded modes: Instrument Mode, Record Mode and Mix Mode. These can be activated and controlled via the large touchscreen display.
The handset has a touchscreen display and can be split into two separate sections; these both have accelerometers and track the position of the other half. DeLuna envisages these pieces then being used to play a virtual instrument – guitar, drums or violin, for instance – either alone or collaborating with others using the 3G network to connect. In this concept the output is recorded as MIDI Signal and can be shared with others via 3G, which can broadcast publicly or privately giving you the option to let people jam/mix along with you.
