Nokia is out with a new CDMA phone – 2228. Nokia 2228 is a slender monoblock device that combines an ultra lightweight design with an LED indicator. The low-end device seems designed to help the Finnish giant grab some marketshare in the CDMA space, where traditionally Nokia doesn’t stack well.Comes in a slim candy bar design, Nokia 2228 has 110 x 40 x 12 mm and its weight only 72 grams.Works on CDMA 1x, 800 MHz.
It’s an affordable 1.3 megapixel camera phone with a built in Nokia media player, supporting most of the common digital formats. It comes with speaker dependent voice recognition, an integrated handsfree speaker and can be used as a modem which allows a consumer to use their phone to connect to a PC for internet access. This Nokia cDMA phone also features stereo FM radio,  20-25 MB internal memory and video recorder. Nokia 2228 will be launched before the end of 2008 in select CDMA markets, which most probably means the US too. Its price was not announced, but it’s said to be an affordable one. Logical, since the handset only offers entry-level capabilities.
