The two new E-series spy photos and even a hand-on video have been seen for months, but today finally, they are officially announced by Nokia. These smartphones were first spotted on the Internet back in December 2007. The E-series smartphones always have: business-oriented features. The Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 come fully equipped for easy-to-install and easy-to-use professional and personal email. As people use Microsoft Exchange at work, they can also access their email using the Mail for Exchange mobile email client, which comes pre-loaded with the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66. People can get reliable real-time access to their email, calendar, contacts and tasks, as well as download attachments like Word, Excel, Powerpoint or PDF files directly to their devices with these Nokia Eseries devices.
The E71 and E66 are both dressed in metallic cases and will come in two color versions: white steel and grey steel. The main difference between them is that the E71 features a full QWERTY keypad, while the E66 is a slider with only an alphanumeric keypad. Plus, the E66 comes with an orientation sensor that enhances full-screen viewing and also allows users to mute the phone only by turning it over.
They both have: 850/1900 WCDMA/HSDPA for U.S. 3G support (AT&T (NYSE: T)); 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR with support for stereo streaming; 3.2-megapixel cameras with autofocus and flash; GPS for location-based services; support for microSD cards up to 8 GB; and dedicated buttons for retrieving e-mail, messages, and other applications. They run on the same Symbian 9 with S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 1 interface, and both are quad-band GSM plus 3G phones (there will be total of three versions: for America, Europe and a mixed one). Aside from some official product shots, Nokia is keeping pretty quiet about pricing and availability details.
