Nokia Intros Three New Low-Enders

Nokia released not only one, but three new low-end handsets in various forms aimed to date from the world’s top handset maker.  The new models announced are the Nokia 2730 classic, Nokia 2720 fold and Nokia 7020.

The 2730 Classic is a classic candybar phone featuring a decent spec sheet. It comes packed with a 2-inch QVGA (320*240) display, a micro USB connector, 30MB of expandable memory and Bluetooth 2.0. The phone is 3G ready and supports EDGE as well. The camera is a 2 megapixel unit with 4x digital zoom. The phone also comes with a standard 3.5mm jack. The new 2730 Classic is expected to retail for 80 euros ($108), excluding taxes and operator subsidies, and go on sale from the third quarter of this year.

Next is the 2720 fold. A flip phone with ‘exciting mirror-effect design’, it’ll be around €55 and available from Q3, and sports easy access to email, calendar, Internet connectivity and file sharing applications. Email can be activated by completing a simple three step set-up process, and in select markets will be offered with Nokia Life Tools.

7020 –  is a clam shell device that has a monochrome external display, 2.2-inch internal color display, 2 megapixel camera, FM tuner, support for microSD cards up to 16GB and MP3 playback. What makes the 7020 the most interesting of the three new handsets however, is its focus on social media — the device comes pre-loaded with Nokia Life Tools, Ovi Share, Ovi Store, Nokia Messaging, Opera Mini and Nokia Maps in addition to Facebook, MySpace and YouTube bookmarks. The 7020 will run for about 90€ ($121 USD) in Q4.
