We’ve heard a great deal about Nokia’s Comes With Music (CWM) service – and now the UK is first in line for it. Nokia has just announced on Tuesday (2 September) its collaboration with Carphone Warehouse, the giant mobile phone retailer. Then, Nokia has been the first cellphone maker to push heavily into content, said ‘Comes with Music’ will differ from other packages on the market because it will allow users to keep all the music they have downloaded during the 12 months. Carphone Warehouse will be the exclusive UK pre-pay channel offering the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic ‘Comes With Music’ edition. Nokia has executed something of a marketing coup by convincing Universal, Sony BMG, and Warner Music Group — the world’s three largest music labels — to offer their music on the Comes With Music program.
Nokia said Carphone Warehouse is accepting pre-orders beginning Tuesday; the phone is expected to ship to customers next month. “We expect the Nokia 5310 Comes With Music to be the gift for Christmas and at the top of all shopping lists,” said Andrew Harrison, the CEO of Carphone Warehouse. The United Kingdom retail chain is also one of Europe’s few suppliers of Apple’s iPhone. Â To the phone, only the music service appears to differentiate the new 5310 Comes With Music edition from the original Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone. Sadly they declined to say when sales would start, or for what price.
