Nokia N79 Approved by FCC

The Nokia N79 one of the latest announced smartphones from the Nseries range was first seen back at CTIA, and has been approved by the FCC today. Nokia N79 NAM is the North American 3G compatible version of the Nokia N79. NAM means that phone is optimized for North America 3G networks which mean that it works on WCDMA networks with frequencies range of 850 MHz and 900MHz, while the typical Euro models feature 850/2100MHz! The N79 runs on Symbian 9.3 S60 3rd Edition and it also comes with a 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss camera (auto focus, flash and video recording) – which will probably be one of its main attractions.

Presented by the Finnish manufacturer at the same time with the Nokia N85 dual-slider, N79 brings the following features: quad-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE, dual-band HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, a 2.4 inch TFT display with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels, accelerometer, a touch-sensitive navi heel, internal GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, HTML browser, RSS feed reader, email and Instant Messaging, Music player (MP3, WMA, M4A, AAC and eAAC+ support) Video player, stereo FM radio with RDS and FM transmitter, a 3.5mm headset jack, TV out and document viewer.
