Nokia and T-Mobile have begun sending out invites to an event taking place on December 14th in New York City. Although the invite doesn’t actually mention Windows Phone devices, it is pretty obvious from the invitations design that Nokia and T-Mobile will be announcing Windows Phone smartphones. The question now becomes whether the phone T-Mobile launches will be the Lumia 800, the Lumia 710 or a new Lumia designed for the U.S. carrier. Nokia’s Lumia 710 device recently passed testing at the FCC and appears to be heading to T-Mobile. The device has been passed on the T-Mobile-unique 3G 1700 band, as well as 850 and 1900 GSM bands.

Both the Lumia 710 and 800 run the latest variant of Microsoft’s smartphone platform. With that software in place, the Finnish phone maker hopes to retain its global presence in the face of fierce competition from both Apple’s iPhone and Google Android devices. Tune in next Wednesday at 7PM to find out!
