iPhone style browsing for Windows MobileWindows Mobile users can finally get rid of the stylus while browsing the web. The new TouchBrowser is developed by Makayama and allows finger friendly browsing. It has big on-screen keyboard for easier and faster typing.

Navigation is pretty much like the one on the iPhone, allowing you to move the page around and scroll just by using your finger. It also has the “inertia effect” for faster and easier navigation.

The application is priced at $ 14.95 / EUR 11.95.

Shortly surprising that the Nokia 5000 is a very good listener. This is actually a coup phone aimed at emerging markets, and as a consequence of 5000 is very cheap - for only € 90 (£ 65 / $ 130).

With a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone 2 inch display with 240×320 pixel screen. It is an FM radio, a web browser and e-mail client, as well as a range of PIM functions, all on the operating system S40.

Nokia N95 8GB nabs new firmware

The user community already had a number of hacks available for this, but you can’t help but get a warm fuzzy every time a manufacturer snatches up cool functionality and bundles it into the official firmware. N95 8GB firmware v20.0.016 is now out and about, offering automatic screen rotation based on the device’s in-built accelerometers (why this wasn’t functional out of the box is beyond us, considering the requisite hardware was already in place) along with browser and WiFi updates. As always, we suspect this is hitting the Euro-spec N95-2 first — but we imagine an update for the N95-4 can’t be far behind. [Read More…]

Sprint Commits to New Windows Mobile 6.1 Treo

Buried in the official announcement of Windows Mobile 6.1 is a small note that says Sprint will release “A new Palm Treo” running this latest version of Microsoft’s operating system for smartphones and handhelds.

Sprint doesn’t says when this model will be released, but Palm executives have said their their company’s next Windows Mobile-based smartphone will hit the market by the end of this summer.

Unconfirmed reports on the Treo 800w have been around since at least mid 2007. There will reportedly be GSM and CDMA versions of this device, both of which will have 3G support — tri-band HSDPA and EV-DO Revision A, respectively. [Read More…]

Palm Centro announced in Colombia via Comcel and Movistar

A million units sold is not good enough for Palm. They want and need more in order to get out of the mess they’re in at the moment.

After Mexico, the once famous Treo maker is going further south to Colombia. There, they’ve found not one but two carrier partners to offer their flagship smartphone - Comcel and Movistar. Hopefully, they’ll repeat their success from the U.S. in Columbia and slowly start growing, again.
