The Samsung Omnia has been sold in Asia and Europe for a couple of months now but today Samsung announced the Korean market launch of “T*OMNIA”, the Korean version of “Samsung OMNIA”. The T*Omnia weighs 131g, just 9g heavier than the original, and is only marginally larger.

Like the Omnia SGH-i900, the T*Omnia SCH-M495 is also an HSDPA device with 16GB internal storage and runs Windows Mobile 6.1. The big difference is this: It comes with a 3.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display–four times the resolution of the original’s 400 x 240 screen. So, now Sprint and Nextel are going to try to patch things up. Sprint on Thursday announced it will extend its long-standing partnership with Motorola and enhance its unique iDEN network. Upgrades will include a greater network and infrastructure support along with software upgrades. In addition to Nextel Direct Connect’s push-to-talk (PTT) service that relies on the iDEN network, Sprint will continue to offer its Sprint Mobile Broadband PTT service that uses the newer, faster EVDO Rev. A network to connect users instantly and without associated billable minutes.

Dan Hesse, Sprint’s chief executive officer, said “The iDEN network is a key differentiator for Sprint as it allows us to offer products and services no other carrier in the industry can match,†Hesse said in a statement issued late Thursday.  Speculation that Sprint would unwind its Nextel unit intensified as Sprint talked of “disposing†assets and Hesse failed to express unconditional support for a long-term future involving Nextel. UK wireless voice and data service provider Vodafone on Friday announced the pricing and availability for the BlackBerry Storm 9500 smartphone, according to news today. Starting Friday, Canada will be the first country outside of the US to be able to download the Beta version of Skyfire, the mobile browser. Skyfire just announced that they are expanding the availability of their award-winning PC Web experience mobile browser to Canada. Now Canadians can watch live sports like NHL hockey, NBA basketball, or use their favorite music and video services just like on their home/work computers.

Skyfire’s claim to fame is its zoomed-out browsing mode that replicates desktop browsing on a much smaller screen. A mouse lets you navigate around the page. You click as you would on a desktop browser to zoom in for a closer look.
