Palm Pixi now available from Sprint

As it promised The Palm Pixi has officially arrived. The Palm Pixi, the second webOS powered smartphone to be announced is available to Sprint customers for $99.99 when purchased with a 2 year agreement, after instant and mail-in rebates.

Sprint’s new edition of the smartphone offers extreme user-friendliness and a sleek design.the Palm Pixi incorporates a 2.6-inch, 320-by-400-pixel, capacitive touchscreen and runs the multi-tasking operating system WebOS. This feature, in fact, enables the device to synchronize wirelessly with online services such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo, and Microsoft Exchange

According to Palm, Ares will give developers a faster way write WebOS applications through a drag-and-drop interface. Senior Vice President of Application Software and Services at Palm; Michael Abbott said that Ares It’s designed to help Web developers make the leap to becoming mobile developers

Samsung Unveils Android OS Galaxy i5700 Spica

Back in June Samsung took its first step in the Android universe with the release  the Samsung Galaxy i7500.  Today Samsung officially unwrapped its i5700 Galaxy Spica. The Galaxy Spica will be available in Europe, Middle East, and Asia.

The smartphone clocks in at a manageable 13.2mm in thickness and features a 3.5mm headphone jack for audiophile. The Spica runs Android edition 1.5 as well, but comes with 800MHz processor (as compared to the 528MHz core integrated into the i7500) and support for DivX and Xvid files.
Moreover, It features a 3.2-inch Half-VGA (320 x 480 pixel) TFT capacitive touchscreen display and also sports a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus. The Spica looks to round out Samsung’s offering, with the Galaxy, Sprint Samsung Moment, and the T-Mobile Behold2. The Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica should be available now across Europe and the CIS nations. No pricing information has been provided at this time.

FCC Unveils Motorola i680 Rugged Clamshell

The FCC has revealed the currently unannounced Motorola i680 rugged clamshell.  This upcoming Motorola cellphone features a ruggedized clamshell design as the phone’s bodyshell is  M810F certified against shock, vibration and dust. External photos show that the i680 has two displays,  and a camera with flash and video capture.

The phone features multimedia functionality such as a media player, 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder and flash, microSDHC expansion slot, Bluetooth, Push to X functionality,  and speakerphone. It is confirmed as offering up  GPS alongside 800/900MHz iDEN network support. Neither Sprint Nextel nor Motorola has officially announced this phone.
