Samsung Behold II Will Launch Next Week

Samsung and T-Mobile USA have announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Behold II. The Behold II is T-Mobile’s newest Android-powered touchscreen handset, and also includes Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.

Features like the 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, the 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, zoom, flash, five shooting modes and video capabilities, 3G connectivity and Samsung’s TouchWiz US make this phone a powerful gadget in the right hands. Other specs include GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, visual voicemail support, Wi-Fi, microSD support for up to 16GB of extra memory and Exchange ActiveSync support.

The Behold II features built-in Google™ mobile services, including Google Search™, Google Maps™, Gmail™, YouTube and Google Talk™, as well as thousands of applications and games available for download from Android Market™. The Wi-Fi-enabled Behold II also supports personal e-mail and corporate e-mail with Exchange ActiveSync, as well as instant messaging, and text, picture and video messaging.

webOS 1.3.1 update now available for Palm Pre owners

Palm today released WebOS 1.3.1, a software update bringing a range of improvements to the Palm Pre (and the Palm Pixi). The update takes webOS from version 1.2.1 to 1.3.1. Information in version text at Palm indicates that no new applications are being added, but that some changes are being made to current versions of the applications.Yet, there are a series of improvements, fixes and feature enhancements that users will certainly like to hear about. One such update is the ability to get calendar and contact synchronization with Yahoo!’s web system. Support for Yahoo! instant messaging has also been added, and the webOS now supports Google Apps and Yahoo! Small Business Domain email addresses.

Some highlights:
• Yahoo! now appears as a Calendar/Contacts/instant messaging synchronization account.
• You can forward a text or multimedia message by tapping the message > Forward.
• A new option is available for restarting the phone: press and hold power > Power > Restart. The prior restart method (Device Info > Reset Options > Restart) is still available.
• Widescreen videos (including YouTube) now display in widescreen mode on the phone by default, instead of being cropped.
• If you tap to play a YouTube video embedded on a web page, the YouTube application launches and the video plays in the app.
• While listening to a song with album art displayed, you can tap the screen below the art to display a playback slider. Dragging the slider jumps forward or backward in the song

U.S. Cellular launches Motorola Quantico rugged clamshell phone

Motorola introduces a new robust handset, the Motorola Quantico. The Motorola Quantico is rugged phone that meet military specification 810F. The Motorola Quantico is a clamshell phone designed to survive up to 30 mins in water, high and low pressure, temperature,salt fog and dust. The phone is a clamshell that comes with a “tough-as-nails exterior” made out of rubber, chrome, glass and mesh.
The phone features Bluetooth for use with hands-free headsets and headphones, features a 1.3 megapixel camera, and has support for microSD cards, as well. GPS technology gives the handset turn-by-turn navigation functionality. Finally, a speakerphone helps users communicate in many settings.
Motorola Quantico will be available in the US before the end of 2009. Sadly, no word on its price.
