Polaroid that invented instant photography by shooting a picture in 60-seconds, recently launched a snapshot in hand. This small device can print the photos directly from your PictBridge enabled digital camera, without the need for a PC, and you see the results in under 60 seconds as well. The printer will be called the Polaroid PoGo as in “Polaroid to Go”. It’ll run you $150 for the unit (and $10 per pack of 30 sheets), and can print up to fifteen 2 x 3-inch photos on its rechargeable battery. A Polaroid Pogo pocket printer, which prints small, 2″ x 3″ prints with sticker backs that are small enough to look good even with the resolution provided by most phone cameras. Not only that, the Pogo is wireless and inkless, and weighs only 8 oz. Using Bluetooth, you can print directly from your cell phone. The Pogo prints in full color in about 60 seconds. The printer is inkless because it uses Zink photo paper which is covered in heat-activated crystals. Unlike the Polaroid photos of old, which were prone to smearing, Zink photos are waterproof, tear-proof, and smear-proof. The printer works both with a battery or with the charging cable. The Li-ion battery only lasts for 15 prints, and takes two hours to charge back up. It can print while it’s charging which is nice, but that really takes away from the mobility factor.
