Asustek showed some concept devices at its Computex 2008 booth, including a notebook that has two touch screen displays. These laptops are reportedly designed to work with the upcoming Windows 7 operating system, which Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer promised would include a multi-touch user interface.
If the report is true, and ASUS does meet its ship target, it does not mean Windows 7 will be ready by then. It’s possible that the company may offer an upgrade voucher for buyers to get Windows 7 later on. Here’s our take:
1/ The screen is the #1 battery life sucker, so we bet that it would be small, as battery life will be a huge problem
2/ Isn’t Windows 7 going to be out in 2010? Steve Balmer just said it last week
3/ To make it really cool, ASUS needs to provide an SDK and get developers (Adobe, EA…) to build custom virtual keyboards
