RIM launching a revamped Bold/Storm in 2009

Apparently, there is going to be an announcement of a Storm-like device at WES 2009. BGR says that the Canadian manufacturer already has a handset that kind of looks like the Bold but comes with a touchscreen, in addition to the QWERTY keyboard. It will compete directly with Palm’s touch screen models. This could be a really hot device as many current BlackBerry owners love the physical keyboard as well.

Currently, the Storm, which was released last week for Verizon Wireless’ network, only works on CDMA-based 3G, or third-generation, networks. But a day after, it reported that RIM is making an HSDPA version of the phone, which means that it could operate on AT&T in the U.S. and Rogers Communications in Canada.

Some are claiming it is going to be called the “Magnum,” but no official word on that just yet. The Boy Genius Report was able to snag this leaked photo of the phone.  Supposedly, it is Curve 8900-sized. We’ll see if that information changes as the date gets closer.
