Samsung SGH-L870, will feature the OneDRAM technology, which boosts data processing speeds and improves the handset’s overall performance. It was launched in Europe last month. Samsung’s OneDRAM enables a ten-fold increase in the data processing speeds between the two processors in mobile handsets: a communication processor and an application processor. Samsung’s OneDRAM also boosts 3D graphics performance, while at the same time reducing the power consumption (which results in a longer battery lifetime for the handset). The features of SGH-L870 are as follows: tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, HSDPA 2100 connectivity, a 2.4-inch TFT display with 16 million colors and QVGA resolution, full HTML browser (based on Apple’s Safari), push email, RSS reader, document viewer, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music and Video players RDS FM radio, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus, USB 2.0, business card recognition and expandable memory. The Samsung 512 megabit (Mb) OneDRAM will be mass produced for multiple communication carriers in several other smart phones worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2008. Samsung has also begun sampling its one gigabit (Gb) OneDRAM to major handset manufacturers this month. Samsung L870 is on sale across Europe for prices starting at around 240 Euros (340 USD), depending on the seller and location.
